What do children love more then having a small place of their own where they can let their imaginations soar and play? Also parents do like to take a break from kids especially when they are at that age where their energies are at peak. Any child who has had a playhouse will always have fond memories of it and when the child becomes a parent he or she would want their children also to have a playhouse. There is no fixed way of getting or building a playhouse nor do they have to comply with any building standards. But yes they must be safe and constructed from a material that would not cause any injury or accident,

Swiss playhouses are easily available and are rather cute to look at. They resemble a typical Swiss chalet with the steep sloping roof and a bay window or two. A playhouse can be a cabin, a rocket, a castle, a fort or virtually any other design that the kids want. The do it yourself father’s can get hold of plans and build the children a playhouse and there are a host of playhouses to choose from. A playhouse can be a plastic playhouse that can be set up anywhere and when not in use it can be unassembled and stored. The more sophisticated playhouse could be a vinyl playhouse and the outdoor playhouse could be a wooden one. The outdoor playhouse could be on the ground or on a raised platform with swings and slides also. The playhouse can even be something as simple as a wooden crate or a playhouse that has been custom built.

One could go over the top and get a playhouse that has an air conditioner and a bath with hot and cold water; it all depends on what type of a playhouse does one want to get for the children.

A playhouse for toddlers would have to be something that they can hold on to and not so spacious and dark that the child develops a fear of going inside it. Popular types of playhouse for boys are the castle and fort designs. Boys love to play soldiers and then of course they need to have a castle or a fort type of playhouse.

Children can spend countless hours with their brothers and sisters or friends playing all sorts of imaginative games in or around the playhouse and of course the playhouse has a main stay in it. No matter what the design of the playhouse it is going to be transformed into what the children want it to be. A playhouse that looks like a fort can also become a ship or a space craft. The structure does not matter its all in the children’s head.

There are all types of kits that one can purchase and assemble or one can also get a custom built playhouse, the playhouse can be very spacious and have a double story and ladders and ropes in it. The exterior of the playhouse can be colorfully painted and there are separate playhouses for boys and girls also. One can even get grownup sizes of playhouses. The girls look like large doll houses or houses and the boys could be anything from a prison to a castle.

The playhouse basically gives the child a feeling of having their own independent space in which they can play as they want to without being screamed at or scolded by the elders and things don’t always have to be tidy and clean in the playhouse which they rarely are.
